I diskless console is about as useful and desirable as a chocolate fireguard to me.
I can’t be the only person that actually likes this as an option I personally don’t care about a disc and would rather it this way but by no means am I saying it should be the only option, but why would this be bad they aren’t taking away disc based Xbox’s their adding a extra option for people
What's the point?
What's even the more point when the console cycle is almost over?
This has bad idea written all over it. I can almost guarantee this won't happen. I just can't see Phil Spencer authorizing this lol
Let's hope this is real!!
i read it as dickless
xbox is dead
Are they trying to pull some apple stunt like the no headset port ...in the case of Xbox is the discless🤣🤣
What, they're going to save money by removing the cheapest component? You can already get an Xbox One S for $200. If anything, they're going to release it, make it $100, and the games you play will be in the Cloud.
I do like the idea of it.. GameStop and other retailers that take trades will also lose business in the process but this idea works only if that person had great hsi in their area.. If not then that market still needs physical discs
So with Xbox one they had planned on always online required then after the outrage they nixed that and now the new Xbox might have this? Naw it will be nixed too.
LMFAO, Microsoft digging its own hole
Why release a bad ides of a already bad idea console called xbone. Their console lacks the things 360 had amf the amazing game tittles they killed the console now they are gona throw another useless console worst than the original
Eh I dont mind a digital only console. Just as long as we can still play :P
Ahh why do i get the feeling that consoles will start doing what iphones do, in a decade or so. A new updated console every year or two apart.
Its terrible and here is why: you do not own digital games in anyway its a license.
It also happened before when a game is pulled from the store even if you bought it its still gone you can’t re download it. Examples are:
ultimate mortal kombat
Trouble witches
Root beer tapper
TMNT turtles in time re-shielded
Outrun
Simpsons arcade
Marvel vs capcom 2
after burner climax
Ahh the ole apple and the aux move (external disc drive sold separately)
Wow NOW GAME STOP CANT MAKE AS MUCH.
There is always xbox 360.
I hate digital i like selling my games when i finish them
Worst idea ever
As long as there are no exclusive games for this new system, I'm fine.
Skip...I prefer physical disc I can lend it or sell it once I'm finished with the games.
I would actually consider getting this. Most of my gaming is done on the PS4 but there's a few Xbox exclusives that I'd like to play. For $200 that's not too bad
So soon gamestop wont even be in business anymore? Well they will probably just be selling consoles
WHAT ABOUT THE BLU RAY PLAYER????!!
this only work if they actually let you play games offline
Diskless? What about DVD, Blu-ray and audio disks we have? I know everything is digital but c'mon, we still have those. If that's the case you'll have to increase storage by a mile. Otherwise the non-manufacturing of disks probably should lower the game price. Not only that but there are other issues like: download wait time, internet connection, and hardware failure which is rare. But if it happens, you lose everything in local save. With all that considered what are the positives and how do they out-weight the negatives?
I think this could be an experiment for the next-gen. Then again, who in their right mind would take part in this when they already have an Xbox.
What they need to do before...
1. I don't mind having all digital game console as it would definitely free up some space in my house. With my entire dvd library I went all digital a couple years agon and never looked back.I have all my movies in a library on my computer, plus two different hard drives that I have so I am well backed up.No chance of me loosing anything short a massive emp detonation.
2. I think this one resonates with everyone. When it comes to buying a game on the xbox one store there are games that have been out for years at the release date price which is totally ridiculous. They would have to truly reduce the price by like 50% if they are cutting out the so called middle man otherwise there is no justification for the price.
I was a Playstation fan for 20 years,1995-2015.When I heard the backwards compatibility of the xbox one I was immediately sold.I understand it is not everyone's thing but sometimes I feel nostalgic and want to turn back the clock gamewise and play a blast from my past. This is why I didn't get the PS4.If they think I am going to buy the next xbox then they have to let me redownload all the games I already had plus cut prices to say the least across the board.Thank you for reading this.
As long as they offer a version of the console with a disc I don't care. I'm not going to buy a console without a disc drive though. A big part of the fun with consoles is collecting the game discs.
I hope this is fake.
Because this means the Next Gen Xbox is still years away
You people realize that this will probably be a $150-$200 system, right?
Completely fine with it. It’s so nice to have all your games on an external drive digitally downloaded
This is a bad move, and the people who buy digital games only and have no problem with it, you forget about this one thing with digital games, once they take that game off the store, goodluck trying to find that again, because it will be gone forever.
Um. I hardly buy disc games. So this really isn't news at all. If your giving the option to buy digital games at all. A "disc less console" is nothing but a stretch of then thinking they releasing something new. When in reality. It's really not.
Xbox one: Dickless model.
The amount of plastic needed to make those Blu Ray discs with their boxes is huge. We could save there. Plus the console would be smaller. This again if there wouldn't be any problem with digital distribution.
PlayStation it is then.
Brownie points for the T - Shirt
I have had xbox since I was a kid, but enough is enough.
I'm so glad to I switched to PS4 2 years back.
-buys disc.. but still needs to install the game-
-game update 10-40GB-
What happened with juat playing a damn game with a disc wtf?
No MS just No, and Sony better not get any ideas.
Over my dead body
I was mad till i realized it doesnt matter since I sold my xbox one for a ps4 and never looked back haha
That will be the dumbest step microsoft did sins the release of the Xbox 360 E!! What's the point of it ? We already can play digital games on every Xbox One we own + It should be named Useless not discless :P
Unless they want to tell us already that the next generation of Xbox consoles are discless [Dé Ja Vu: Like when they gave us a hint about the design of the Xbox One by releasing the Xbox 360 E' model]
Remember guys take this with a grain of salt, it is just rumors. As long as it has not been officially announced by Microsoft it is most likely not going to happen.
Already sounds fake.
I’m all for digital game libraries, but what if I want to watch a Blu-Ray?
Are you guys finally talking in you’re videos 🤘🏽
Please don't make disk less console. Having disc makes it something special
Broke people still buy disc and play offline. Get ya bands up. #GetTheStrap
I bought that thing because is a bluray 4k player, and some friends too, they play more games (exclusives) than me but that was a selling point for them
So they couldn't get a way with DRM before. So now they remove disks completely out of the equation to prevent used pre-owned game sales, so they can keep the prices of games in their hands. Such a sly move.
"RUMOR" Proof or it didn't happen the new xbox hasn't even been announced yet the media are already hating on it. Get some integrity ign.
well then don't make it gods damn 20 euros more most of the time, or even more when the game is old
But not battteryless...
I read dickless lol
Microsoft be ruining they sales before people even find out what's being sold
This will destroy tens of thousands of jobs if video game street retailers collapse
Consoles become more like PC's every year, we ditched that optical drive years ago!
Physical > Digital
Welp weep for GameStop. As if they didn’t have it bad already.
*I guess people here hate PC's and Steam*
So I guess they didn’t learn their lesson from when Xbox one first came out smh they’re gonna lose again
why all the hate.....$100 XB1, hell yea im in 👍
Say disc less 3 times fast
Better have 10tbs
More of this style of news none of that reading crap
remember they tried something similar this last time lol I'm sure they learned
The end is near.... A.H.
Like literally what’s the point? No wonder Sony dropped out of E3. Xbox fans just bought Xbox one x last year, I know it’s a rumour but no one will actually think of purchasing unless it’s actually statistically more powerful which is highly unlikely. How do Xbox fans actually cope with how Microsoft care more about making money than actually spending that money on exclusives.
I don’t by disc anymore anyway And , if your a PlayStation fan You’re fool to think that Sony won’t pull this in a couple years as well.
This could happen tomorrow to my Xbox One and I would have literally not a single problem with it. The question is how would removing the disc drive benefit the overall console?
Optane accelerated? Oh no, because it's an AMD APU. Could it at least be an SSD included?
This would be useful as all my games are downloaded anyway
So is it a Xbox One X without disc drive or a Xbox One S without a disc drive?
Discless is a disaster
given how large games are becoming these days (red dead being massive for example) this would kill a huge section of their target audience since not everyone can download games, data caps, slow internet etc, i personally dont want to commit more then half a day downloading my game after work
I stop buying disk in like 2013
So xbox gonna pull the trigger with this one. Haven't they learned anything from Apple removing there head jack we the people like options. Don't make us have to choose or Playstation will start to look alot like Christmas next year.
This again? Didn't this cause outrage when the Xbox One was originally announced?
Im down. I don’t buy disc anyways im all digital
Releasing everything except games ...
legend has it microsoft is bringing a new controller and new controller after that and another new controller after that
Yeah man, 2018 just had nothing. Cough accept the 5 exclusive games they released compared to Sony's 2 bhahahahahahahahahah get rekt
" I buy physical copies so I can sell them for $15 later on because I'm a cheapskate".
Idiots.i knew they would do this again . That's why I never bought an Xbox .
It's almost like Microsoft is trying their hardest to lose customer loyalty
This Is the type of rumors/media that sabotaged the original launch of the Xbox One
They also said that you could take your disc into dissipating retailer and trade them in for a digital code
I hate disks. They're a burden.
Im from the land down under in straya nuff said. Not like i console anyways
Try to be different in a another way. I prefer disc personal
No
If this is the future, bye bye retailers..
If you're reading this buy a PlayStation 4!
I think they wont do this. Otherwise ill just stick to the xbox one x and leave it as my last console
MICROSOFT, NO!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME?!?!?! UNLESS THIS IS AN ALTERNATIVE CONSOLE, THOUGH, THEN i GUESS THAT'S FINE, BUT DON'T DO IT WITH THE MAIN CONSOLE, FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!
It comes with a 500 gb hard drive so you have to buy a bigger one
I used to support discs. But now given landfills and what have you I say let them die. Do you guys remember Mechassault and Brute Force on the original Xbox? What percentage of them fill your local dump, Goodwill, or half-priced books(TBH those that actually Orginal Exclusives so I'd understand it SLIGHTLY!! But *insert crap game instead (like those f'en Burger King Games, or NCAA 07...08...09)? And it doesn't help with all the remasters, ports, and anniversary additions there are! And don't get me started on Capcom!
Maybe I'm really just arguing for oversight or solutions withing game distribution or something. So I like that trade disc option thing. But I think that's why a lot of games come out buggy as well. Everything the gaming company crafts and makes have to be, 'ready and functional by this date! So we can get in contact with the Disc distribution team.' (My titanfall 2 says "disc made in Mexico"). So the product is rushed. Then a patch is made hours (days) later for you to download for a few hours after spending a few hours downloading the f'ening game anyway. Why not bypass this leg of the process?
Digital games
Hmmm Microsoft taking notes from apple and making a "bold" move? I mean I know we've been using discs since the 90s but most people still prefer physical libraries. Heck I still prefer physical movies.
